Pete Doyle: Artist working in the Smokey Mountains near Asheville North Carolina.  Studied Painting at the San Francisco Art Institute and Kutztown University.  Founded the Ogontz Avenue Art Company in Philadelphia from 1989-2004.  Worked with at risk kids in North Philadelphia teaching Mural painting, Fine and Graphic Arts and Computer Literacy.  OAAC distributed over 5,000 free PC’s to kids with the help of the local business community and the GSA.  We have amazing stories that we will post on this website.  The story begins with one dumb suburban artist being hired to paint a mural on a bodega in North Philadelphia in the middle of the so called ‘graffiti blight’ in 1984 .  It is an incredible story about hope and possibilities.  Like all stories it is filled with great joy and great sorrow.  We met kids in 1989 who were as young as 6 years old.  They are in their 30’s now and their stories are amazing.

Hope you enjoy my paintings.  They are greatly influenced by the kids that were in our program.  I learned more on the streets of North Philadelphia than the Art Schools I attended.
